best pilates grip socks in 2026: 8 brands compared on the things you can actually check
every "best pilates socks" list you'll find was written by someone who got a box of free pairs. this one compares the parts you can verify yourself before you spend anything.
the short version
most reformer studios ask for grip socks. most grip socks work. the differences that matter on a moving carriage are: how much of the sole actually grips, whether the sock stays put on your foot, how the sizing runs, and what a pair costs once shipping and packs are counted. everything else is aesthetic, which is exactly the part these lists pretend doesn't matter and the part you will notice every single class.
the eight, on the checkable things
| brand | price per pair | grip | sizes | packs / bundles | free shipping (US) | returns |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| gimme | $24 single · $19 in the set (3) · $16 in everything (6) | full-coverage grip sole, the whole sole not dots | two: S/M (US 5–8), L/XL (8.5–12) | 3-pack $57, 6-pack $97, free scrunchie with either | bundles ship free; singles free over $50 | easy 30 day returns |
| tavi | from $16 (savvy) | full-sole non-slip per their listing | multiple, brand chart | none on the flagship pdp | over $100 | brand policy |
| toesox | $20–24 | sole grip, half-toe and full-toe styles | S / M / L | 2-packs, discount not shown | over $100 | brand policy |
| pointe studio | $16–18 | full-foot and ankle styles | brand chart | 10% off 3 or more, applied at checkout | over $35 | 14 days per their site |
| lucky honey | $9–18 | grip sole | brand chart | sets | per site | brand policy |
| bombas | about $21 (gripper) | gripper sole | brand chart | 4-packs, "pack savings" badge | per site | brand policy |
| lululemon | $17–28 | grip sole, several silhouettes | brand chart | none | per site | brand policy |
| arebesk | about $19 | grip sole | brand chart | 2-packs at retailers | over $50 | brand policy |
what to read into that table
price per pair is the number, not the sticker. a $16 sock with a $100 free-shipping threshold is not a $16 sock if you only want one pair. a 3-pack at $57 is $19 a pair and ships free. run the math the way you'd run it on a coffee order.
"grip" is not one thing. a dotted sole grips where the dots are. a full-coverage sole grips wherever your foot lands, which matters on footwork, on a long lunge, and when your heel is the only thing on the carriage. if a listing doesn't say how much of the sole grips, assume dots.
two sizes is a feature, not a shortcut. a cuff that holds without squeezing lets two sizes cover most feet, and it removes the "am i a medium or a large" moment. between sizes, size up.
packs are where the good brands compete. pointe studio and bombas both push multi-pair savings because nobody buys one pair of grip socks for long. if a brand has no pack, you'll pay full price for pair two and pair three.
what this list can't tell you
how a sock feels in your class after ten washes. reviews help, and gimme is new in 2026 so ours are still coming in; tavi and arebesk have hundreds. the honest move is to buy one pair from whichever brand's world you actually want to wear, wash it three times, and then buy the pack. every brand on this list will take a pair back inside its window.
if you're the pilates-princess kind of pilates girl
this is where the lists go quiet, because "which one matches my matcha" doesn't fit in a spec column. gimme's twelve colorways are named after her order and sorted into four collections: grounds for girlie, in my era, spill the tea and head in the clouds. same full-coverage grip sole on every pair, and the set is three pairs from one collection at $19 a pair with a free scrunchie in the bag.
questions people ask before they buy
are expensive pilates socks better?
not automatically. the $28 and the $16 pair can have the same dotted sole. pay for grip coverage, a cuff that stays up, and a colorway you'll actually reach for. everything above $24 a pair on this list is paying for a logo.
do i need toe socks for pilates?
no. toe socks (toesox's half-toe style) are a preference, mostly for barre and dance. a closed-toe grip sock is what most reformer studios expect and what most people find comfortable for a full class.
how many pairs of grip socks do i need?
one per class day between washes. three pairs covers a monday-wednesday-friday practice without doing laundry mid-week, which is why the 3-pack is the shape most brands sell.
which grip socks are best for reformer pilates specifically?
the ones with the most sole coverage, because the reformer moves under you. our choosing guide goes through the checklist.
