how to wash grip socks (so the grip stays grippy)
the care routine is genuinely this short.
good news: grip socks are low-maintenance. the entire routine is three rules, and two of them are things you simply don't do. here's how to keep the grip grippy, wash after wash.
rule one: machine wash cold
toss them in with your sets. cold water is gentler on the grip sole, so there's no special cycle and no separate hand-wash situation. they can just live in your regular laundry rotation.
rule two: air dry, always
heat is the fastest way to age a grip sole, so skip the dryer entirely. lay them flat or hang them up after class laundry, and they'll be ready before your next booking. the grip stays grippy way longer that way.
rule three: skip the fabric softener
fabric softener and grip soles are not friends. leave it out of the load, your socks won't miss it. same goes for bleach, which has no business near your colorways anyway.
how often to wash them
after every wear, like any sock that's done a full class with you. since they go straight in with your regular cold wash, there's nothing to remember beyond "not the dryer."
if you have the scrunchie too
satin and velvet both skip the machine: hand wash cold, air dry flat, no dryer. the satin stays smooth and the velvet stays plush way longer that way. the satin ones live in the studio bun, the velvet mat ones in the mat bun.
the recap
- machine wash cold, in with your sets
- air dry, never the dryer
- no fabric softener, no bleach
- scrunchies: hand wash cold, dry flat
